NARs Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

If I had a quarter for every time I have read about this product or seen it used I would be a millionaire! I held off on buying it because I had a product very similar to it that I needed to finish and because of the price. I am happy to report though, that it is well worth the money! I have very very very oily eyelids and although other eyeshadow bases are just fine this one is by far the front runner and cult favorite for me.

Cliniuqe Chubby Stick

My most recent lip purchase is this lovely plum color. I have never had a Cliniuqe Chubby Stick and although I am late to the game I now know why they are a cult favorite. Besides it being very pigmented, it also is creamy and very moisturizing. This Intense shade in Grandest Grape, is quickly becoming my new go to fall lip color!

What is your current lip color?

Cheers!

Currently Testing

Whenever I want to purchase a new product and I know I can get a sample of it I do! Although most of the time you can return makeup, as long as you have a receipt, I just feel better when I can test something out first in my own environment before I purchase it. Especially if what I am looking to buy is expensive.

Sephora and Nordstrom are great about making samples and they also have good return policies. Currently I want a new foundation. Do I really need a new foundation, no probably not but I want one...great logic I know. Their is nothing wrong with my current foundation but I have had it for a while now and am getting bored with it. So after researching I decided to sample Nars Sheer Glow foundation. I have tested it in a few different situations, including one where I needed it to last all day with very little time for touch ups, and so far I like it. But I will let you know my final thought if I decide to purchase it.

Do you sample any products before buying?

Cheers!

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

Please excuse the less than beautiful state of this product but it was living in my shower until I finished it. I love this product, hence the ugly state and the fact that I used it all up. At first I was confused when someone tried to explain it to me as a body conditioner. Basically you put this on after you finish everything in the shower, including actually washing yourself. You take the product, which looks like hair conditioner, and put it all over your body and then rinse off.

The best thing is, when you get out of the shower you just pat dry and BAM your moisturized. No extra lotion needed! Now if that isn't enough for you the fact that it smells like a rose garden is amazing! If you do not like roses, there is another scent and it does wear off by the morning. I have already repurchased this product because I just cannot live without it. I don't use it every night but definitely on those super lazy nights when I am to tired to do anything but shower and go to sleep. Warning: don't use this unless you no where to go for a while because it is very moisturizing and some might consider it as greasy but it sinks into the skin don't worry!

What special shower product do you like to use?

Cheers!

Mugs and Brushes

Brushes are hard to store. I don't want to put them in a drawer for fear they will lose their shape and I want to be able to see exactly what I have so when I am doing my makeup I know what to reach for! I realized that I had a lot of coffee mugs, because I am an avid mug collector...so why not display my beautiful mugs and put my brushes in them! It was a win win plus it makes my desk look cute when I can display my beautiful mugs.

How do you store your makeup brushes?

Cheers!

What Chelsea Did: School Bag

This is my last year in college, so I have a pretty good of idea of what works for me in terms of supplies. I do not carry much but what I do carry is essential for me! I usually carry a Longchamp Le Pliage bag because its big and easy to clean plus it looks cute!

My school is on the quarter system, so every quarter I purchase a new 5 subject notebook. For me it is easier to only carry around one notebook instead of one for each course. I have to have a water bottle with me or I get super dehydrated. This one from Target is the latest edition to my water bottle collection and also the biggest!

I usually will carry around some beauty things which I keep in my Longchamp pouch. I also have sunglasses, since it is always sunny where I go to school and a pouch for all my pens. Sometimes I bring a textbook to class, if the course requires it so right now I have my Latin textbook...pretty exciting right?! Just kidding.

To go along with my notebook I will have a folder that I can keep forms, loose worksheets, and any other important items for class that I don't want to lose. Last but not least and probably one of the most important things in my bag is my planner. I cannot go anywhere without this thing, I even once called it my bible because without I would be a hot mess. It tells me everything I need to know for the upcoming week and I am a very forgetful person so writing things down really helps me. I will do a full review on the planner I have later but I highly recommend it!!!

What do you keep in your school or work bag?

Cheers!

September Favorites

Lets jump right into this. This month my face decided to freak out, partly because I am stressed from starting school, and going through recruitment for my sorority and secondly because I have not been keeping up with my skin care routine as usual...I know I know shame on me. So to help combat the weird bumps and big painful pimples I have been using the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo. I have talking about this stuff before but it really does noticeably help the size of my bumps and or pimples decrease!

Lately I have been going for a less is more look with my makeup but if I still want to put something on my eyelids then I choose MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork. It is a great neutral, brown, taupe shade. It also helps to keep my lids from becoming super oily and it just makes my face look more polished and put together in my opinion.

Speaking of looking polished the Anatasia Brow Pomade also helps me achieve that. They say that the eyebrows frame the face and I am starting to believe that. I don't use a lot but when I do use it, my face instantly has more shape. A little warning: it looks darker in the pot than it does when used!

Last but not least are my favorite lip product! I have fallen back in love with Burts Bees lip balm. Just the classic flavor that I found floating around in my purse and was in desperate need for a something soothing on the lips. The standout for me though is the Maybelline Color Elixir in Carmel Infused. This is the perfect nude rose shade for me and it is long lasting!

What are your favorite products of September?

Cheers!

Solid Perfume

I am a girl that loves her some perfume. I mean who doesn't like to smell good or have someone say "oh you smell great!" Please raise your hand if you do not like this. Anyone out there? Nope! When It comes to perfume I normally prefer floral scents but when I smelled this lovely warm vanilla scent on my friend I just had to know what she was wearing...

Which was Lush Vanillary Solid Perfume. This stuff smells deep, warm, and sweet all at the same time. The Lush website describes it as,

"The decadent, gourmet scent of Vanillary is made with natural vanilla absolute – the sweet stuff made from vanilla pods – and includes a touch of sandalwood and a note of comforting burnt caramel. With a hint of saucy jasmine and cozy tonka bean, Vanillary warms and develops on the skin."

However the true selling point for me is not only is easily portable, aka it won't spill in your bag, but the scent lasts. This morning I used this on my skin and it is currently 8pm and I can still smell the scent. To me that is worth all the money! Because what is more annoying than using a perfume that does not last?

What is your favorite solid perfume?

Cheers!

Flawless Face

Who doesn't want a flawless face? Everyone wants not only their skin to look perfect but for it last long. I have finally found the combination that works well for me when I need my makeup to photograph well, last long, and give me a flawless look!

Most days I do not use primer because I can't be bothered with it but when I do I will often use the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. It helps my makeup last longest and helps combat my oily skin. For foundation I use my trusty Makeup Forever HD foundation. I have used this foundation for a while now and still love it. It makes my skin look amazing and photographs well, obviously since it is an HD foundation.

Keeping with trusty products theme I next use my MAC Pro Long Wear concealer. This truly does conceal everything. I use a shade lighter so I may highlight underneath my eyes. It instantly lifts my face and brightens my overall complexion. To set this I use the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed powder. It gives a little coverage but mostly helps my makeup stay in place.

Last but not least is a makeup setting place. I have recently switched to the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray and I am in love!!! I used the De-Slick for ages, went through countless bottles but now I have no idea how I did not use this before! It makes my makeup stay put through, heat, water, etc...trust me I have tested it!

What do you use to achieve a flawless face?

Cheers!

Extra Skincare

The last part of my skincare routine are 'extras.' Just bits that I add to my skincare routine to give my skin a little extra help if it needs it. For instance if its that time of the month, if I'm stressed...you get the picture!

First thing I use is my Clarisonic. I have been using my Clarisonic for about 2 years now. I used to use it every day but now I have cut back to just a couple times a week. I typically use it right before I put on a mask because while it exfoliates my skin it also opens up my pores so it will help my mask sink into my skin and work better. If you don't know how a Clarisonic it basically is like a tooth brush for your face. I love it.

Speaking of masks, one of my favorite masks is the Origins Clear Improvement mask. It is a charcoal mask and really helps clear my pores. This is something I use to prevent acne from happening not necessarily to treat it. I use this mask about twice a week but side note it also dries out the skin so I would use a oil, night cream, or overnight mask to put moisture back into your skin.

For a good oil to help put moisture back into your skin is the Tarte Pure Maracja oil. I received this a sample from Sephora and fell in love with it! It is light weight, sinks into the skin quickly but still packs a punch as far as moisture!

Last but not least is my favorite spot treatment. The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo is the best around! Seriously! You know those pimples you get that hurt to even touch, this stuff makes them disappear! I will take a pea size amount and rub it on the acne area and by the next morning I will notice a noticeable decrease in size. You can also wear this cream in the daytime just make sure to wear a sunscreen!

What are your extra skincare favorites?

Cheers!

Skincare Routine Evening

For my evening skincare routine I tend to use more products. The evening is time for my 'beauty sleep,' basically it is a time for my skin to repair itself because like the body my skin can get tired, congested, and dull looking.

First things first I take off my makeup with the Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil. I love cleansing oils for taking off makeup because not only is it gentle on the skin but it takes off all my makeup easily. No tugging or pulling, my makeup just slides right off. Even waterproof mascara or other stubborn makeup.

Next I move onto my cleanser. I am currently using the Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel, which I have been using for a long time and still love. It takes off any of the remaining makeup, and helps keep my skin clear. I then follow up with the Korres Pomegranate toner which I use in the morning

Finally it is onto moisturizer for the night. Now I used to never be an eye cream person and I always thought it was for more mature skin but last winter the skin under my eyes got very dry so I started using the Bobbi Brown Hydrating eye cream. I really only need it to keep that part of my face extra hydrated. I only use it at night and it has no anti-aging properties that I know of because that is not a concern of mine.

Last but not least, is the Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial. Long name but packs a punch! Clearly I love Korres but it truly is gentle on the skin and has many different products for different skin needs. This product has a lovely rose scent and I have noticed a difference in my skin since using it. My skin looks brighter and feels softer after use.

What do you using for your evening skincare routine?

Cheers!

Skincare Routine Morning

Hello! Please excuse my lack of posts but I am back at it and what better way to get in the swing of things than with a skincare post. One of my favorite things about beauty is skincare. I will spend more money on skincare than anything else. In my mind if you have great skin then not only will your makeup apply better but you will feel better. This will be a three post series with the first being my morning skincare. For me this is my least involved routine.

First things first is cleansing the skin when I wake up. For this I use the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm. I love love love this stuff! It feels so luxurious on the skin and most importantly it cleanses the skin. It removes makeup amazingly well but since it is a cleansing balm it nourishes the skin and does not strip it of any oils.

After this, I follow up with a toner. The one I am currently using is the Korres Pomegranate Toner. I have spoken about this previously here but it continues to minimize my pores and keep my skin clear of acne. I firmly believe in toners because it gets the last of the dirt or left over cleanser off the skin before moisturizer.

Next is moisturizer. During the day I use light cleansers especially in the warmer weather months. I am currently using the Origins Ginzing moisturizer which I have spoken about previously here. It is very refreshing in the morning since it smells like oranges plus it brightens the skin and I need all the brightening I need in the morning! Ya feel me...

Last but not least is SPF. If I am not wearing makeup that has SPF in it then I will apply a separate one. Neutrogena makes great ones and are very similar to the one I am currently using is the Bioderma SPF.

Stay tuned for part 2 on Monday! What is your morning skincare routine?

Cheers!

P.S. Since I used to have terrible acne I am all into skincare!

Favorite Summer Accessories

I love summer because I love bright colors. I am always drawn to bright color wherever I go especially when I am shopping. This summer was no exception. When Ray-Ban came out with these orange aviators I just took one look and said YAASS. I had to have them! They are beautiful and perfect for summer! I have gotten so many compliments on them and now I want more Ray-Ban's.

I have also been obsessed with these Alex and Ani bracelets. I usually don't like bracelets, I normally buy rings, necklaces and earrings but these have all been gifted to me by one person or another. So not only are they beautiful stacked together but each bracelets reminds me of a different person so they are that more special to me.

Does perfume count as an accessory? If not oh well because I have been obsessed with these two. The Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede I have had for a while and love it! More times than not I am wearing this. Sticking with the floral scent the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White has been giving Jo Malone a run for their money this month. I only have this in a sample size roller ball but am just gonna have to cave soon and buy the full size version. It smells incredible and I need it. Is that a good justification?

What are your favorite summer accessories?

Cheers!

Bold Summer Lip

Can we just take a moment of silence to appreciate the beautiful packaging please....ok now that is out of the way! This is my first YSL makeup purchase and even though I cringed a little bit when I purchased it I have no regrets! You really do pay for quality.

This is my go to bold summer lip the Rouge Volupté Shine in 12 or Coral Incandescent. It is the perfect coral shade, on me is more of a pinky coral but still so beautiful! My favorite part about the product apart for the gorgeous packaging, is how long wearing it is. Even when the color fades from my lips the product leave behind a lovely stain so I don't have that awkward lipstick fade...you know what I'm talking about, when the color is gone from the inner part of your lips but likes to linger on the outer corners! This does not do that at all! I want more! I am hooked!

I think another shade is in my near future...

What is your favorite bold summer lip?

Cheers!
