February Favorites

I cannot believe that we already two months into 2014 this year is flying by! This month I have kept it pretty simple as far as makeup. School is full swing for me which means, less sleep, lots of alarm clock snoozing, and little time to get ready. So I have been keeping it very basic.

First up is the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. I love this stuff however the texture of it I am not all the way in love with. I have a hard time finding primers that I actually like and that help my foundation last throughout the day but this one seems to work. The liquid to powder consistency is probably what helps my foundation not slip and slide all over the place. I typically mix a pump of the primer in with a pump of foundation or whatever base I am using. It works for me, even though I had to close my eyes when I swipe my credit card to buy it but its worth every penny!

Seoncd is the L'Oréal Teloscopic False Lash mascara. This mascara is the one I have been reaching for most this month because it makes my eyes look instantly awake! It lengthens my eyelashes and gives them that nice definition that I need when I have gotten little sleep. I usually use one coat for every day and go in a reapply if needed.

Third is the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation. Now I have had this foundation for a while now but I have recently fallen back in love with it. The shade is not a perfect match but for the drug store it will do. I use maybe a nickel to a quarter size amount for my whole face. It is super light weight and does a nice job of balancing out my skin if I feel like putting on foundation that day. I also am in the darkest shade, cappuccino!

Last but not least is the Korres Greek Yoghurt Moisturizing Face Cream. I am going to do a separate post for this favorite but lets just say that this little beauty has been a life saver for my skin this month.

What are some products you have been loving this month? Cheers!

Spray, Powder, Repeat

I am in the oily skin club. It is an interesting membership because you put on your makeup and think you look great after all the application and then suddenly a few hours in, you look in a mirror and half of your makeup has slid off your face! This will just not due. Not to mention the fact that you spent good money on your makeup products but also I do not carry around my entire makeup collection in my purse so I have found some products that help keep my makeup in place.

First up is the MakeUp Forever HD Microfinish Powder. I got this product in a kit and I love it! The powder is so finely milled that it does not look 'cakey' on the skin at all. Also since it is an HD powder it photographs beautifully! It does not add much coverage since it is a translucent powered but it does help to keep my face matte for hours! I want to try the pressed version soon…

Next is an oldie but goodie: The Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray. I do not even want to know how many bottles of this I have gone through over the years but it really does help keep my make from 'slicking' off my face. I tend to spray it before I apply my foundation and after I apply my foundation but before powder. I will even apply it after all of my makeup is on because it really does help to lock into place. A quick tip: if you spay this on a brush and lighting tap it into your skin it will pinpoint where exactly you want your makeup to set. I also keep it in the fridge during the summer because it is nice to just mist over your face half way through the day to refresh your look. The best part is that it is made by the Skindinavia which are the leaders in makeup setting sprays! So the moral of this story is this stuff works!

Those are just a few products I use to keep my makeup in place. Are you a member of the oily skin club? Cheers!

MAC Cleanse Off Oil

This product will change your life. I first heard about it on YouTube from MissGlamorazzi who was raving about this product for how well it took off her waterproof mascara. Not that I typically wear waterproof mascara on a daily basis but I still wanted to give it a go because if there is a product that can get all of my makeup off then I am down to try it. So I bought it and haven't looked back since. I have oily skin and putting this oil on my skin did not break me out whatsoever and it takes off makeup like a dream.

On my hand I have some MAC concealer, Rimmel lipstick, Bobbi Brown shadow stick, and a MAC blush and it all came off without a trace with one to two pumps of the oil.

See! Its a miracle! I highly highly highly recommend this to anyone and everyone! Some nights when I am truly lazy I will only use this and some moisturizer and my skin feels great! I even bought the travel size bottle I love it that much! What do you think, will you try the MAC Cleanse Off Oil? Cheers!

Shadow Sticks

As much as I love makeup, and trust me I love makeup, sometimes I do not have time to sit down and put together a pretty eye look if I am in a hurry. So shadow sticks to the rescue! I am literally obsessed with these. I first fell in love with the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks when I first purchased Bark last summer. It is the perfect brown shade. Not to dark but not to light. The nice thing about the shadow sticks is you can wear them all over the lid alone, as a base because they seriously do not budge, or as an eyeliner. I have been known to do all three combinations. My love for this product deepened when I got the shade Champagne for Christmas this year. It is a beautiful light golden color that is gorgeous on the lid. I literally have no bad things to say about this product, so if you are in the market for a quick eye look then these shadow sticks might be just the thing!
What is your quick eye look solution? Cheers!

Valentines Day Nail Polish

Since Valentines Day is on Friday everyone is always thinking about what they are going to do that day or night, what to wear, what makeup, what hair…and so on. But one thing that people might over look is nails! Now I don't know about you but whether I am out with a boy or out with girlfriends I will most likely be using my hands in some way so why not make your hands pop! Nail polish is an easy way to make yourself stand out on V-Day. The lightest nail polish is OPI Bubble Bath, easily the most loved nail polish out of the four since it has some spillage on the outer part of the bottle. This nail polish is a very light pink and makes your finger nails look natural. Next is Essie Off the Shoulder, which is a pretty bubble gum pink color! Bright and fun, its the ultimate pink color without being in your face pink. Then we have Essie Raspberry. By far one of my favorite pink/red colors and one I often wear during the fall and winter. It looks just like the name of fruit it describes…a raspberry. Finally we have your true red. This is Barry M Bright Red and when I think classic red this is what I think of. I absolutely adore this color and was searching for the perfect red nail polish for the longest time until I found this one and my search was over! Which one is your favorite? Cheers!

Muslin Cloths

It seems strange to be raving about a wash cloth but here it goes. I love muslin cloths! I stumbled upon these wash cloths through some beauty bloggers that I follow and while I was abroad in London they were a big trend popping up all over in people bathroom's so I decided to give it a go. They are amazing! Because they are so thin they do not hold onto to much water but just enough to get all the cleaner and product off your face. One side is a little rougher than the other so it gives a nice exfoliating component to it. The thing I love about these is that, it makes washing your face less messy. Whenever I wash my face I somehow end up with all the water from my sink on my vanity…maybe I am just a messy face washer but either way wiping the cleaners off with a muslin cloth is not only an easy clean up but it lets you control where you wipe your face. Essentially, you can make sure all the dirt and products are off! I get mine from the body shop but I'm sure other places sell them too! What is your favorite way to take off products? Cheers!

Formal Functions

Base: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, Makeup Forever HD foundation N177, MAC Pro Longwear concealer NC45

Eyes: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, MAC Bare Study paint pot, MAC eyeshadows wedge, brown down, contrast, Maybelline eye studio eyeliner in black, L'oréal infallible eyeliner, L'roéal telescopic mascara, Cover Girl lash blast mascara and Maybelline the falsies mascara

Face: Bobbi Brown pressed powered in basic brown, Maybelline great lash in clear, MAC blush in love joy, Urban Decay de-slick makeup setting spray, MAC oyster girl lipgloss

By no means do I wear this much makeup on a daily basis but for a fun occasion I tend to wear a little bit more, especially if I know I will be taking pictures that night. My dress was from BCBG a few years back. What do you do to get ready for a formal night out?

This weekend I had formal for my sorority so I thought I would show you everything I used to create my makeup look. My dress was cream/beige with a navy corset deal going on so I thought I would go for a navy smokey eye. Cheers!
