Los Angeles Easter Weekend

Over Easter Weekend I knew I wanted to get away, so a hop skip and a jump and my roommate and I were in Los Angeles! It was a great weekend overall! We started in Los Angeles and went straight to the Grove. We knew that the new TopShop had opened so of course we had to go! After a little bit of damage we took our bags and ourselves to lunch. Along the way to another shopping destination, yes we shopped quite a bit, we ran into the restaurant Lemonade. We had heard so many great things about this little place so we had to stop! I got blueberry mint lemonade and a huge macaroon! The macaroon was just ok but the lemonade was probably one of the best lemonades I have ever had in my ever!

We only spent one day in Los Angeles because we had to have enough time to be in DisneyLand! How can you go all the way to Los Angeles and not drive the extra 45 minutes to Anaheim to do to the most magical place one Earth!? I love love love all things Disney, except the Fox and Hound, Dumbo and sometimes Bambi. But other than that I love Disney! So we got our tickets, and ran, ok maybe we fast walked, to Space Mountain. The greatest ride in Disney. Yep thats right, I said it, Space Mountain is the best ride...or at least top 5.

We rode countless rides, at delicious Monte Cristo's at The Orleans Cafe as well as beignets, also random but did you know that California Adventure has a bar? Well it does and it is bizarre. The day was magical but the best part of my day was getting over my fear of Tower of Terror. I am not a heights person at all, maybe because I am short so I like to be close to the ground but jokes aside I do not like heights. I have ridden Tower of Terror before and hated it! I love that feeling when your stomach drops when you are on a roller coaster but I hate it when it involves heights.

But, my roommate dragged me onto the ride, no really she had to seriously convince me to go on it. I was very nervous but since I had already ridden the ride before I knew when the drop was going to be so guess what? I wasn't scared at all! I actually enjoyed it and then rode it again! It was an amazing day and I am so happy that I took the time to go down to Southern California. It was a fantastic Easter Weekend!

What did you do for Easter Weekend!

Formula X Nail Polish

This is my first time trying this nail polish formula. I had been hearing a lot about it and have seen it displayed every time I walk into Sephora, which may or may not be often, so I finally decided to purchase one!

Although there are many many many colors I wanted to purchase I settled on the first one being, Formula X nail polish in Unmistakable. It is a beautiful minty blue color and I had nothing like it in my nail polish collection. I also wanted a spring color but it had to look 'fresh' and this was exactly what I was looking for.

The brush is wide which makes applying the nail polish easy and the formulation is wonderful. It is very opaque and I could have gotten away with only one coat but I felt weird not putting two coats. Does anyone else feel like that? Anyhoo, I am very happy with my nail polish right now and I want to buy more! Shocker....

What spring nail polish are you loving at the moment?

P.S. I get compliments all the time when I have this color on my nails!

Maybelline Color Exlixir

Yup I have jumped on the band wagon when it comes to this lip gloss. The Maybelline Color Elixir's are definitely something I would recommend trying out. First of all they are in the drugstore so your not going to pay a fortune, which is always a good thing. Second, you can usually catch these on sale in CVS or Walgreens! Third, I have the color Celestial Coral and although they are not the longest lasting formula the color is still beautiful and sits comfortably on my lips. Plus I also like the packaging...I am a sucker for some good packaging. Like every other blogger I like packaging..shocker!

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation

I know I am a little late on this review but I have liked this foundation for quite some time and felt the need to share it...even if I am the last one on Earth to review it. I have been using this foundation for a year and love it! The name says it all...naked. Oh yes I said it, naked. That probably has to do with the fact that the texture is very watery. Once applied it feels like there is nothing there and since it has been heating up outside these days, weightless is always a good option in my book.

There are only two downsides that I find. Firstly the packaging is kind of a pain because it is glass. So although it looks nice it is not practical to travel with. Second, the shade is not perfect for me but if I blend it into my skin and add a bit of powder it looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! My shade is Cappuccino by the way.

It gets better. Not only does it sit comfortably on the skin, feels like you are wearing nothing, it also has pretty good coverage. I would say light to medium which is all I tend to need at the moment.

This is one of the foundations you will most likely catch me wearing in the summer. What foundation are you loving at the moment?

Clinique mascara review

You know when you read about a product and you just have to have it? That is how I felt about this mascara. I had read about this product multiple times on multiple blogs so I pledged to myself that I would finally purchase it as soon as I went through my other mascaras. And it finally happened! So off I went with my credit card in tow, to Sephora to purchase the Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume mascara

You can pretty much know if a mascara is going to work or not on the first try...well with most mascaras you can and this one was no exception. As soon as I applied this to my lashes they instantly transformed into beautiful, long, thick, fluttery lashes! That was a long description but all of it was true. The brush is big and plastic with little tiny bristles to catch all your lashes. It even has a curved end so that you can get those stubborn lashes that seem to want to do their own thing instead of falling in line with the rest of the bunch. You know the ones I am talking about!

Needless to say you can tell a difference in the pictures which eye has been applied with mascara and which has not and I love the results! What do you think?

MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter

Its that wonderful time of year where April showers are in full swing, the sun is peeking out from under the clouds and bright colors are back in style! It's also time to bring back the dewy and bright skin, well we all want bright skin year round right? Especially in spring!

One of my favorite products to use is something that I stumbled across while I was abroad last fall and have been using it ever since! The MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter pen is just that a highlighter pen that also can moonlight as a light coverage concealer. I wear the shade peach lustre, which is the darkest of the color selection, but this pen really does bring instant light to your face!

I typically apply this underneath my eyes, concentrating the most product closet to my inner eye and applying less as I make my way out to my hair line. When I am really ballsy, I also use this on the side of my nose, my chin, forehead, and down the bridge of my nose, but that's only when I want a lot of highlight. On lazy days (aka most days) I will wear this as a concealer on its own, blend it in and... BAM, beautiful glowing skin! It really is the dummy proof highlighting product, especially if you are just getting into using liquid highlighters on the face like I am.

What products do you use to brighten up your face?

P.S. I bought this in the fall and it still hasn't run out and I use it all the obviously it's a keeper!

March Favorites

I am a terrible person. Ok maybe not a terrible person but I am a terrible blogger. Like just slap me I have been terrible! I apologize for being gone for basically two weeks! So what had happened was…I had finals for school, and then spring break got the best of me and yea I just was totally slacking on the blogging end but I am back and ready to get back at it! And what better way to start then with my favorites from March!

My first favorite is MAC eyeshadow in Amber Lights. I love love love this color! I purchased it after watching a tutorial of someone using this shade and just had to have it! It is a beautiful golden brown shadow that is perfect for giving more of a bronzed look than a full on gold look. Not that I don't love my gold eyeshadows but this was a nice change up for spring! I apply this all over my lid for a beautiful wash of color and thats it! It is a no fuss kind of shadow in my opinion!

Second is the Rimmel Scandal Eyes eyeliner in Nude. I am not sure if I have talked about this product before but I am pretty sure I haven't. I was a little skeptical to use this since I have black skin and wasn't sure what a 'nude' liner would like on me but I love it! It really opens up my eyes and makes me look awake, which is something I need help with since I haven't been getting the most rest lately. I apply this to my water line but a quick tip is to use bottom mascara when wearing this. I find that if I do not apply mascara it tends to wash me out a little.

Next, is the Vaseline Lip Therapy in Rosy. I keep this little guy in my hand bag almost all the time. I have the biggest pet peeve for chapped lips. I cannot stand them so I always have a lip balm in my bag but I also am very picky about what I put on my lips. I am not gonna put just anything on my smackers! This formula is thick which I love but also is very moisturizing. The rose tint is an added bonus for during the day because its subtle but doesn't take away from the moisturizing effect. My only downside is that it is in a pot form which isn't the most sanitizing when you are out and about but oh well.

Then, we have the Makeup Forever Microfinish Powder. I talked about this here, so I won't go into to much detail but I have been reaching for it more and more lately. Especially for setting my under eye concealer.

Last, but not least, is the Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara. I going to write up a separate review on this product (that's how much I love it!) but now just know that is freaking amazing and might just be the best damn mascara I have ever tried…

Thank you for putting up with me these last two weeks! I promise not to leave the internet every again!
