Skincare switch up #1

I have added two new products to my skin care routine. I am most completely happy with my routine and these two have made a big difference in my skin recently!

The first product is the Korres Pomegranate Toner. I asked a Sephora employee what she recommended for combination to oily skin with enlarged pores. She pointed me in the direction of this toner. I have noticed a huge differences in my pores especially on my nose. It also doesn't make my skin feels tight like other toners have in the past. Overall this is a great product and I really enjoy using it morning and night.

Next is the Origins Ginzing moisturizer. I was looking for a new light weight morning moisturizer. This one claims to be energy-boosting which first attracted me to the product. The moisturizer smells of oranges which is great to help jump start the day. My favorite thing about this product is the gel formulation. It sinks into the skin quickly and isn't heavy to wear during the day.

Do you have any new skin care products?

Most Reached For #1

Recently when I sit down to do my makeup I find myself reaching for these two blushes the most. I love blush. My love affair probably steams from having to wear so much back when I was dancing competitively, in which case we had to pile on bright red blush in order to be seen from the stage. Anyway, I think blush really brightens up a face and since it is summer I have been loving a good pink these days!

You can catch me wearing one of these whenever I put on makeup. NARS Mata Hari is an oldie for me. I have had this blush for about a year and still love it! I bought it because a beauty blogger who has a similar skin tone to me used it and I just had to try it. Although NARS is expensive it is totally worth the money in my opinion. The color is very opaque and creamy. It also lasts all day which is what I am looking for in a blush. I cannot stand when you look in them mirror and your blush has faded.

The other option I choose is the Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop which is more of a recent purchase. Like the NARS blush Berry pop is also long lasting and very rich in color. Unlike the NARS blush this color is a little more on the bright berry side, hence the name, while Mata Hari is more of a rose petal pink. Both are gorgeous and both brighten up my face.

What blushes are you loving at the moment?

Must Have #1

Summer time means Fourth of July, BBQ's, pools, popsicles, endless nights and the hot sun. Although I do have darker skin and don't burn easily I still try and protect my skin, especially my face! Even though I used be using sunscreen year round, I make a point to use it the most in the summer. Whether its a makeup product that has sunscreen in it or the good old stuff by itself,  sunscreen is a must have for summer!

I always have a hard time finding a good sunscreen. You know, the kind that isn't greasy, not thick and doesn't leave any kind of white cast. I was pretty sure that did not exist but I finally found one! The Bioderma Photoderm AKN Mat SPF 30 (don't you just love products with long names?!) meets all my sunscreen requirements. The product itself is not thin but not too thick either. It also dries to a matte finish but is not drying on the skin and lastly even though it is white it blends into the skin seamlessly without leaving a trace of a white cast behind!

I love this product. The matte quality was what really attracted me to it since I have oily skin and it does not make my skin break out either since Bioderma products tend to be on the gentler side. This is an all around great product and I highly recommend it.

What sunscreen are you using this summer?

Summer Wardrobe

It is finally summer! I am finished with school and its time for internships, beaches, fun nights out and of course time to switch up my wardrobe! Since I am in northern California the summer weather is pretty nice, not what I am used to in Houston! Here are some of my top picks for what I will be wearing this summer!

Summer time screams shorts! Time to bust out those legs that are hiding under jeans and shake things up. This summer I have been loving these silky, non cotton or denim version of shorts. They are seriously everywhere and so comfortable!!! Don't get me wrong I still love a good pair of J.Crew shorts and I have many but this summer I have been really liking these. Plus they can come in such bright colors or cute prints like the ones above!

I love a good button down shirt year round but in the summer it can harder to wear since it is hot! I tend to go for lighter fabrics or layering if possible. I am in love this this gingham shirt which light weight but not see thru, which is a plus! I also will sometimes pair a tank top with a button down shirt as an alternative for a jacket. The chambray shirt is still heavy enough to keep me warm but light enough that I won't get to hot!

There are days when it is just to hot to wear a button down shirt and thats when tank tops come out! I love a good printed tank top paired with denim shorts or a basic white top with a fun color or printed bottoms! Either way tank tops are a must for me almost every summer plus they are easy to throw on and walk out the door!

The last piece of clothing for me are sun dresses. These are a must!! On those days when it is too hot to wear a lot of cloths, when I'm in a rush, or when I am feeling extra girly, I throw on one of these with cute sandals, maybe a scarf if I am feeling fancy and walk out the door. The best thing about these is how versatile they can be. I can wear a white dress with a printed scarf or add neutral wedges to colored dress! The possibilities are endless!!

Last but not least are sandals. I love flip flops but sandals are just a bit more put together and are ideal for the summer time. They are the in between of flip flops and wedges. Perfect to wear everyday, neutral, but also cute are what I look for the most.

There you have it! Those are my clothing picks for summer! Its nice to switch out your closet for different seasons plus I love to bring out the bright is summer after all!

My Travel Makeup Bag

This weekend I will be making a little getaway for a graduation and I thought I would show you what I makeup wise. In the past, I tend to pack EVERYTHING. Which not only is not practical but it makes for a very heavy makeup bag. Recently though I have learned to downsize but still bring everything I need.

First I think of the possible outfits I will be wearing, this helps me figure out if I am going for a neutral eye, a bold lip, a bright cheek color, etc. From there I pack what I need. I typically only bring one base product but if I am bringing more, and in this case I might, then I usually 'depot' them into another container.

TIP: I will steal/take the empty sample pots at Sephora and then fill those up with whatever base I am bringing, it saves space and is enough product for multiple uses.

I try and limit myself to what I use on a daily basis, since I know those products work well for me. I also pack as many travel size products as I can. The hardest part for me is deciding on eyeshadow and cheek color. I always want to bring everything but I have recently fallen back in love with the Too Faced Natural Eye palate which has everything I will need to create multiple looks for this trip. I also packed the two blushes I am loving at the moment (a post on those later).

Lastly, is lip color. For this trip I am wearing mostly bright colors so I went for a neutral lip crayon from NARS and a pretty coral Maybelline Elixir for an added dose of color.

And if I forget something I can always just buy it when I get there...hey any excuse to go into Sephora right?!

What do you pack in your travel makeup bag?

Nike Employee Store Haul

Ok first of all I have been a terrible blogger lately and I apologize for the lack of posts. My regular schedule of Monday and Fridays will resume. Now that's out of the way, I am so excited to talk about this haul! A couple of weeks ago I went to Portland for Memorial Day weekend with my room mate who is from there. I had never been to Portland before so I was really excited to visit!

The food was amazing, the area was so green but I did have a few things on my list that I really wanted to do and one of them was visiting the Nike Employee store. Now getting into the store is kind of difficult. Firstly, the only way to get access, meaning to actual purchase something, is if you have a pass. Getting passes can be difficult but somehow my room mates family managed to get us two so that my room mate and I could go in!

The store itself looks like any Nike store would but almost all the merchandise is half off or reduced. Some items even are not available to the general public or are released at the employee store first! Needless to say it was really exciting getting the chance to shop here since Nike headquarters are in Portland it was an experience I could only have here!

I don't want to be dramatic but it was a mad dash for merchandise. Not the 'black friday' kind of madness but more like 'if you think its remotely cute grab it now or someone will take it' madness. Honestly, our charts were full of stuff and I didn't end up buying all of it but I did buy a bit...

As you can see I don't need workout gear anytime soon. Yes I went a little crazy but my room mate pointed out "you probably won't be back here again so get it!" so I blame you Lindsay!!! I got two pairs of spandex pants, two sports bras (one not shown), a wind breaker jacket, and three pairs of shoes. Ok so I didn't need three pairs of shoes but I did need the basic black pair and at half off I couldn't resist! I had a great time in Portland and this was just one of the many highlights of my trip!

*This post is by no means meant to be bragging.
